So I was standing at the copier a couple of days ago and I over heard some of my students talking about me outside the office. One girl said, "Teacher Rebecca is beautiful, huh?" and another student said,"Yes, Teacher Rebecca is beautiful". Wow I can't tell you how much that made my day. It is so hard to "feel" beautiful here. I don't wear make-up because I would look like a racoon in 30 seconds because I sweat so much. I don't really do anything with my hair because I have to put a helmet on and it rains practically everyday! And the constant comments about weight (which are totally acceptable here) don't help either. So it is so nice once in while to be called beautiful. :)
Here's a picture I took yesterday after I went and got my hair washed. (One of the things I like to do on "hard days". You get so little physical touch here. (I could go a whole week...whole month really with out being touched by someone else). They don't hug here or even shake hands really. At best I get hi-fives from my students...so it is nice to get pampered once in a while. I feel good inside and out after such outings.
