A Good, Good Day

There was a bit a swell from the typhoon that's in the Philipines, so of course I was at the beach. I got up at 6:30 (which was too late of a start.) at drove up the coast. I hoping the swell wasn't too big yet so I could surf but by the time I got there the wind had picked up and made surfing conditions not ideal. So I decieded to take pictures on my way home. I stopped for coffee and then met some friends to go to "the river". It was nice... until I saw a snake... then I wanted out. It was little but none the less I wasn't sticking around to chat. Then when we got back I decieded that I would try a sunset surf session if the wind had died down. I checked my normal spot at it looked good. Not to big and crazy. I paddled out but got a little freaked out by the set waves. (I have a bit of fear left over from my surfing accident a few years ago.) I forced myself to sit it out and not panic. I made myself caught and ride one wave in. The current was strong and so I decieded to call it a day. I went futher up to watch the guys surf a shallow reef break. It was barreling and fun to watch. These are two pictures from there and one on the drive home. The last one is of some boats on a lake. It was this time last year that my roommate, friend and I almost died while "borrowing" one of the boats. Someone through a coconut over the bridge I am standing on at in nearly hit us by 20 feet.

Hello Mei!
I just wanted to say that I really enjoy reading your blog. I am really seriously considering moving to Taiwan in the future, possibly next year, and I'm really nervous about it. Reading your blog is so exciting and heartening for me, to see such lovely, English-speaking Christians making an awesome life for themselves in Taiwan! I am hoping to do English teaching with HESS and so reading about your relationship with your students etc. is so... I can't explain it. Thanks for posting little windows into your life for us to read and enjoy. Bless!
