Thanksgiving at Starucks

Happy Thanksgiving! Today was a bitter sweet day. It didn't feel a bit like Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday of the year. The sun was shining, the wind blowing. 80 degrees all around. And I had to work.
I decided ahead of time I was going to make the best of today. I got up early. Made breakfast. Checked my e-mail. Went to work early so I could cut out the shapes I needed for turkey hats. Tried to be thankful for my little guys as we went through the morning exercises. The hats were more than I bargained for but after an hour of gluing here and taping here and a few upside-down mouths, they turned out looking pretty cute. I'll have to get a picture for this blog sometime. Tried to explain Thanksgiving to my 2-3 year olds. The only thing they got is turkey and gobble, gobble. Oh, well.
The closest thing to Thanksgiving dinner I can get in Taitung is Starbucks which has Pumpkin Pie. I had my heart set on it all morning and headed there straight after work. But would you know it they didn't have any pumpkin pie in the display. I was on the verge of tears. I asked if they had any and they said they would check in the back. (Come on people! It's Thanksgiving!) Luckily they had a piece. I bought that and a cheese and ham sandwich and grapefruit juice and set down for a Thanksgiving feast. Actually it did the trick. So all in all it was a ok day. I miss my family and our large thanksgiving dinners but next year I will be home to enjoy it. Peace
