Well I had a great weekend in green island. Here are some of the highlights...
* Wake up 6:30 on Saturday to catch a very bumpy flight (15 minutes) to Green Island.
* Start cleaning around the church. Clear out a huge heap of rotting trash in the front.
* Children's program with about 15-20 kids give or take a few that was running in and out.
* Tour of Green Island on scotters.
*Early morning hike (where we incountered spiders the size of my hand.
* Sunday service with the children
* Went to the ocean to caught flying fish things.
*Monday did a service at Green Island prison. I gave my testimony in front of 100 men. It was an awesome experience.
All and all I had a great time. I spoke maybe five- ten sentences in English all weekend. But amazingly I understood most everything. (Except that I was giving my testimony at the prison and not to the children. But all went well.) It took me back to the days I went to Mexico on mission trips. We would arrive and the kids would climb all over us. Many of them barefoot and dirty. We would sing songs and play games. They would be our constant shadows. I loved it and I can't wait to go back.
I would have to say that Green Island is my most favorite place I have ever been to. I love it. It is paridise. Blue ocean, lush mountains, kind and friendly people. You really can't go wrong. Except for it being an island with very few people and you might get lonely it is an awesome place. I'll take you there if you come and visit.
