Wow I can't believe that I have been teaching my kindergarten class for almost one year. It seems so unreal. And I got really good news. I will be teaching them again next year. I am so excited. It has been my dream to follow a class from little class, middle class, and big class (all three years). They are such a good class. They have grown so much this past year and now they are being able to say more than even. We had a really loud thunder and lighting storm other night and the next morning when I walked into the classroom I had several kids competing to tell me about there version of what happened. Owen who is 4 years old said (in English mind you) "Teacher Rebecca tomorrow (he got confused but meant yesterday) I am sleeping and outside have a typhoon day. It have so big rainy. I am not scared. Bobby is scared but I am not scared." Bobby says" I am sleeping and outside is so noisy big boom and have so many rain. I don't like typhoon day." Kevin is jumping around clapping his hands saying" typhoon day, BOOM.
The way they talk is so cute and sometimes so funny. Andy's English is so proper. He always says "Teacher Rebecca may I please put my sticker in my sticker book" or " Teacher may I take my paper home to give my daddy. He will say I am so good." It is amazing how fast they are learning. They know over 400 flashcards and that doesn't include the sentence patterns, daily English, song chants, and what not. I am definately an advocate for teaching children a second language when they are young. They love learning and it is so easy for them. They really teach themselves. I asked Owen today why he already knows the flashcards for the next theme and he said because he looks at his book and listens to his CD at home. That's so cool.
I have the best job in the world.
